What we store on your device

One setting, and only if you choose it: your analytics choice, so we can respect it next time. Our analytics keeps a random ID in memory for a single page view and forgets it when you leave. When you open a link from one of our emails, we use the random ID saved with your sign-up instead, so we can tell which emails help.

Cloudflare, which hosts this site, may set security cookies (such as __cf_bm and cf_clearance) to tell people from bots. They are strictly necessary to keep the site safe, so they don’t need your consent, and we can’t read them.

Who helps us

  • Cloudflare: hosting, security, the sign-up database (kept in the EU), and sending and receiving our emails.
  • PostHog: page measurement and survey answers, in its EU cloud. We pass on your country and device type, never your IP address or email.
  • Google: our business email, where your replies and sign-up notifications arrive.

Some of these companies are based in the US, and their staff or sub-processors may access data from outside the UK. Where that happens we rely on the UK–US data bridge or the ICO’s International Data Transfer Addendum.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, object to how we use it, restrict it, take a copy, or withdraw consent. The unsubscribe link in every email deletes your sign-up and your survey answers straight away. For anything else, email canopy@talltree.tech and we will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
